Tamarind Rasam

Tamarind
1 lemon size

Salt
To taste

Water
As required

Oil
1 tbsp

Mustard
1 tsp

Hing / Asafoetida
¼ tsp

Curry leaves
1 sprig

Red chillies
3-4 broken



Method:

Soak tamarind in ½ a cup of water for 10 minutes. Squeeze and strain well. Add a cup of water more (ensure that the sourness of tamarind is intact). Add salt to taste and boil it well.





Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once it starts spluttering, add broken chillies, hing and curry leaves. Pour this over the boiled mixture.




Serve hot with rice or drink directly.
