Moong dal kheer / Hesaru bele payasa

Ingredients:

Moong dal
¼ cup

Jaggery
1 cup

Water
To cook

Ghee
2 tbsp

Raisins
1-2 tbsp

Cashewnuts
3-4 broken

Salt
A pinch

Turmeric
¼ tsp

Coconut
1-2 tbsp


Method:

Wash and soak moong dal in ½ a cup of water covered for 5 minutes. Add more water, turmeric, salt and cook on low flame till the dal is soft and starts to mix with water completely. Add jaggery and coconut at this point and mix well. Once the jaggery melts and starts to get thicker, add water to adjust thickness and bring it to a boil. Take it off the heat. Temper with ghee, raisins and cashewnuts.

     

     

     

     



Serve hot / chilled.
