Simple Avarekalu Upma / Simple Val beans Upma

Val beans / Avarekalu
1 cup
Pressure cooked with a pinch of salt for 2-3 whistles
Sooji / Rava
1 ½ cup

Ghee
3 tbsp

Salt
To taste

Sugar
A pinch

Lime juice
1-2 tbsp

Mustard seeds
1 tsp

Channa dal
1 tsp

Jeera
1 tsp

Curry leaves
1 sprig

Coriander leaves
2 tbsp

Coconut
½ cup
Desiccated
Water
3-3 ¼ cup



















Method:

Heat 1/2 tbsp of ghee in a kadai and roast the sooji till light brown.


 Remove it to a plate and set it aside.


Pressure cook val beans with a pinch of salt for 2-3 whistles.


Heat the rest of ghee in the same kadai and add channa dal.


Once it turns a bit golden brown, add mustard, jeera, curry leaves.


Add cooked val beans, water, salt, sugar and let it boil.











Add roasted sooji, mix and cook covered for 2-3mins.


Once cooked, add lime juice, coconut and coriander leaves. Mix well. Turn off the heat and rest it for 2-3 mins.


Serve hot.
